Procedural generation of problems for elementary math education

Mathematics education plays an essential role in children’s development, and there are many online applications aimed at supporting this process. However, manually creating math problems with a variety of textual visual content is very time-consuming expensive. This article presents generic approach for procedural generation mathematical problems, including their corresponding representations. The process consists two phases: abstract problem text generation. For the we propose template-based method that operates across difficulty-levels domains, arithmetic, comparison, ordering, relationships, measurement, geometry. Subsequently, multi-language adaptive pipeline to realize generated into semantically coherent questions natural language. A workflow time gain evaluation shows system yields average saving 56%. Further, human expert indicates it generates sensible solvable primary school students.
